Lotta Nothing...
It seems that Google wasn't content to have one of the coolest map implementations
in the world (yeah, yeah, US only) - no, they had to go and include a satellite
view of all their maps.
Great googly moogly - the detail on these things are insane. Any other time
I looked at my old house on a satellite map, I had to count the blurry blobs down
the street. This
time, I know which house it is because I can make out the layout of the trees
in the yard. Very awesome.
Now - there's still one glaring exception to gMaps' greatness - the
lack of exit numbers on interstates (or other roads that have them, for that matter).
Any time I need to give directions to someone when they're lost (happens all the time,
I swear I'm an Internet operator sometimes), I get a fix on their spot, and have to
follow them with the map - automated directions are no good typically in this case.
I still need to use Mapquest or Mappoint to do this, because there's no guarantee
that the exit sign on the interstate will say the name of whatever road the driver
is exiting onto.
So - yeah - exit numbers. Otherwise, man, awesome.
